Space Soldiers win ESEA Season 25 GC LAN

The ESEA Season 25 Global Challenge LAN has come to an end with the Turkish side, Space Soldiers, taking home the grand prize of $18,000 after defeating FlipSid3 in the final, 2-0.

The ESEA Season 25 Global Challenge LAN playoffs started out with two matches, the semifinals, featuring Space Soldiers facing off Rise Nation, and FlipSid3 fighting Kinguin. As expected, Space Soldiers beat Rise Nation without mutch of a hitch, 2-0. The Turkish side gave the Canadians only 11 rounds across two maps, winning Inferno, 16-7, and Train, 16-4.

The second semifinal had FlipSid3 facing Kinguin. The CIS side held the reins of the match during the entirety of the two maps, with a particularly in form Yegor "⁠markeloff⁠" Markelov leading the way. The match ended with FlipSid3 qualifying for the final after two maps, Mirage, which they won 16-9, and Train, which they took 16-10.

Space Soldiers add another title to their list

The grand final saw FlipSid3 take a convincing first half on Overpass, their pick, as they took the CT side 9-6. When the tables turned, however, Space Soldiers didn’t give the CIS side a chance, taking 10 out of the 12 rounds played after switching sides for a 16-11 win and the edge going into their map pick.

The second map, Cache, didn’t go any better for FlipSid3, as Space Soldiers absolutely obliterated the CIS side. The Turkish team started out attacking, and won 12 out of 15 possible rounds, not giving FlipSid3 much room for a comeback.

Space Soldiers looked like they were going to close it out after winning the second pistol round, but a forcebuy gave FlipSid3 some hope, as they put 6 more rounds on the board. Eventually it proved to be too little too late, as Ismailcan "⁠XANTARES⁠" Dörtkardeş and co. bagged the map, tallying the last couple of rounds, for a 16-9 score.
